Competitive Food Eating

One idea is to focus on the world of competitive eating mainly within the UK. It has taken over Japan and America by storm and is now upcoming within the UK. It's not all fun and games with major health risks and lifestyle changes to become successful within the world of competetive eating.

Documentary ideas and research

FreeMasons

Secret organization since the 14th Century, they have 250,000 members in England and Wales and six million around the world. Not a massive organisation but very secret and influential.

They have a very neutral and friendly face, but behind closed doors what really goes on.

Would want to look further into who and what they stand for and whether this secret organization is still as secret in the 21st century.

Where the rumors have come from and how much members know and what they believe in.

The life of Bronies

Bronies are a community of adults (87% Males) who follow and obsess over 'My Little Pony'. They love the T.V. programme and anything to do with them. They have a worldwide community of 7 million members.

Blackfish

I recently watch Blackfish and found it such a moving and shocking documentary that i had to put it on here.

It's use of the Observational, Participatory and Reflex modes create a thrilling documentary which you get dragged into, can relate and feel for the orcas and trainers.

Many people can relate to going to these waterpark shows and seeing the animals and trainers, feel the joy and entertazinment it gives you, however this documentary turns that upside down.

it uses shock and horror to bring out emotion in you, however they don't direct it at the orcas but at the owners of SeaWorld. This creates sympathy for both the trainers and the orcas in almost a wierd symmetry you feel the same way for both of them at the same time even though onen is attacking the other.

Documentary Reviews

The Cove

I felt drawn to watching this documentary as after watching blackfish it made me want to watch more of this basis.

This was a shocking and bloody film which delved into the word of Dolphin killing. Once again Seaworld is shown as a huge evil corporation.

This documentary uses political reflexive mode, making the viewer want to act on the subject, how can we help? It also felt to be a very personal film for the filmmaker and through this the viewer felt closer to the film. This use of Participatory mode utilises it best.
